Our Team At The Conference
Douglas de Beer
Douglas de Beer has over 29 years of experience in utility management with ESB and ESB International. He has specialised experience in consultancy services for Transmission & Distribution (T&D), including design, construction and operations.
Douglas has extensive experience managing projects internationally, including utility management in Liberia. Douglas has proven experience in Transmission and Distribution networks and is responsible for the delivery of international network operations. His understanding of T&D project delivery enables Douglas to focus on the delivery of scoping, programming and coordination of multi-disciplinary inputs required to meet the client's expectations for successful project execution.

Orla Burke
Órla is a PMP®, Chartered Electrical Engineer with extensive experience in the global energy sector. Her project portfolio extends from feasibility studies, project management of large-scale, high-capital, international networks projects to utility transformation strategies. She has successfully delivered multiple projects in the MENA region and Sub-Saharan Africa, including Egypt, Tanzania, Zambia and Ghana.
She is a Lead Project Manager with the Utility Management and Consultancy Group, providing strategic advisory services to our clients to meet their key business objectives.

Simon Leyden
Simon Leyden is a Business Development manager at ESB International, focusing on our relations with International Financial Institutions (IFI). Simon has worked in Project Finance, specialising in traditional and alternative energy for over 15 years. He has worked with several financial institutions in Ireland and abroad, including time with the European Investment Bank – the European Union's Climate Bank in Luxembourg.
Simon brings expertise in energy policy, international finance, large-scale project finance, and the application of development bank finance to energy projects, especially in developing economies. Simon has a B.A. (Joint Hons) in Economics and Geography from Trinity College Dublin and an MSc in Economic Policy from the University of London (School of Oriental and African Studies).
