ESB International Energises 400 kV substation in the Kingdom of Bahrain
After 44 years of offering consultancy services in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the energising of the Ras Legrain 400 kV substation on Sunday 5 April 2020 was a historic day for ESB International.
To support this a 400 kV consultancy contract was awarded to ESB International in January 2019 with an ambitious target of 14 months. This huge undertaking was successfully delivered on target due to the commitment of the ESB International Ras Legrain design and site team.
By 1 May 2020, ESB International will have successfully delivered 12 substations and one substation extension in a 20-month period under the current Transmission Development consultancy contract between EWA and ESB International.
This includes energising two 220 kV substations, each with 450 MVA capacity, and 10 66 kV substations, each with up to 60 MVA capacity. These challenging achievements prove our commitment to the region and will empower EWA for generations to come.
Dedicated to the paramount objective of delivering projects safely during the current unprecedented Covid-19 challenges, ESB International has ensured all works are carried out with meticulous planning to ensure the health and safety of our staff, clients and partners.
In November 2019 ESB CEO Pat O’Doherty met with HE Shaik Nawaf Bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, CEO of EWA (Electricity and Water Authority Bahrain) and thanked EWA for continuing to place their trust in ESB International to deliver the high-profile infrastructural projects for the Government of Bahrain.
After many years of engineering business in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and with a current staff of almost 90 based in the Bahrain office, ESB International remains committed to being a successful, responsible and progressive company, contributing to economic and social progress in the regions we operate.
